Robia LaMorte's Biography

Robia Brett LaMorte was born in Queens, New York, USA.

She studied at the LA School for the Performing Arts and the Dupree Dance Academy.

Robia began dancing at the tender age of 12. She became a professional dancer at 16 and appeared in her first music video Shake Your Love for artist Deborah Gibson. This would become the first, in a long history of music video appearences.

Her big break came when she auditioned for a role in the Cream music video for the artist formally known as Prince . Robia was paired with dancer Lori Elle and they became known as Diamond & Pearl. Prince gave them these names.

Pearl an analogy of a clam, tough shell, hard exterior and you have to kinda pry it open. But when you do there is a beautiful thing inside.

Diamond & Pearl was such a great success, Prince asked them to appear in further videos and they became his lead dancers. Robia and Lori Elle also appeared on the cover of Princes' "Diamonds & Pearls" album.

Robia and Lori Elle toured with Prince and made many public appearences during Princes' self-imposed period of public silence.

At the age of 22 Robia left the world of dancing to pursue an acting career. She landed roles on shows such as "Beverly Hills 90210" and "The Sentinal". She also had supporting roles in the movies "Earth Girls are Easy" and "Spawn".

Her second big break came when she was cast as computer-science teacher and resident Techno-Pagan, Jenny Calendar on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. This was only ment to be for one show, but she impressed the shows creators so much she was asked to come back for further episodes.

Robia is currently working on Rescue 77 for the WB where she plays a nurse called Megan.
